2007 Year in ReviewDear Friend of Eternal Vision:

2007 has been an outstanding year for Eternal Vision. It has caused us to consider two Old Testament saints; Nehemiah and Asa. Nehemiah, who understood the greatness of his Lord, was moved to encourage the work of God in Jerusalem. Strengthened in faith, he stepped out and re-energized a movement to rebuild the walls of the city and bring understanding and obedience to the hearts of God's people. Through his visionary role of leadership and the instigation of others in the work, the task was accomplished and God's name was lifted high.

ImageAsa, as he faced the forces of opposition prayed before his God; ". . . LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go . . ." (II Chron. 14:11). Asa and the nation of Judah rejoiced greatly as God went before them granting victory and provision. His passion for the work and testimony of God led him to utter dependence upon a God who never fails.

In our first year of operation, we at Eternal Vision take great encouragement in Nehemiah and Asa. As we have stepped out by faith, God has moved in many hearts, walls are being rebuilt and a re-energizing work of God is being established in the area of Christian education. We can already see the beginning of the long-range fruit of our work, including strengthened Christian school ministries with a commitment to quality; many more responsible young families having access and ability to educate their children in a quality Christian school; and churches with a renewed commitment to Christian education and to the equipping of the saints through stewardship education and training.

In this exciting year the doors to our ministry were opened, a staff was invited and relocated to our Watertown office and twelve men of stature and accomplishment joined us in service as board members. Our processes have been initiated and refined, a broad array of educational materials has been created and a significant strategy has been developed to enhance the future impact of our ministry. It has been a year of tremendous growth and development for the ministry of Eternal Vision.

INITIAL WORK / PILOT SCHOOLS

From the earliest days of our work, God greatly encouraged us and confirmed in our hearts the direction of our steps. Without any marketing but only by prayer and word of mouth, numerous individuals and ministries from across the country inquired about our services. We received letters, phone calls and e-mails from dozens of pastors, professional educators and school administrators. Out of the initial inquiries, we selected twelve pilot ministries through which to launch our efforts. In each case, our work was anticipated, appreciated and resulted in great ministry benefit. Several Vision Endowments have now been created and are in the early stages of active funding. These pilot schools have proven the viability of our ministry and helped us refine the Vision Endowment concept.

We are thankful to God and to the leadership of these fine ministries for having the privilege to serve. Special thanks is due to the following ministries whose boards have formally engaged the services of Eternal Vision and elected to proceed with the creation of a Vision Endowment:

  • Calvary Baptist Church, Findlay, OH
  • Calvary Baptist Church, Huntsville, AL
  • Calvary Baptist Church, Watertown, WI
  • Grace Baptist Church, Muncie, IN
  • First Baptist Church, Seaford, DE
  • High Point Baptist Church, Geigertown, PA
  • North Love Baptist Church, Rockford, IL

We look forward to meetings upcoming shortly with the leadership of the following ministries to establish Vision Endowments for their Christian schools:

  • First Baptist Church, Wixom, MI
  • Genesee Christian School, Burton, MI
  • Bible Baptist Church, Hampton, GA

ENDOWMENT PROCESS

Through the hard work and fruitful labor of our legal staff, the Vision Endowment creation process has been refined and established. Ministries which may have contemplated establishing an endowment on their own but were intimidated by its technical and complex nature now have a viable option that is understandable and adaptable to their greatest needs. The result of this work with our pilot schools has been the streamlining and creation of a legal endowment template that is easily conformable to each ministry's unique characteristics. We believe this important innovation will have a tremendous impact on the Christian school movement and the overall effort of funding the work of God.

To support the churches and Christian schools our ministry serves, we have developed a substantial library of printed resources dedicated to teaching Biblical stewardship. To help communicate the tremendous value yet ease of implementing a Vision Endowment, a Leadership book has been created explaining the steps of Eternal Vision's endowment-building process. Additionally, to help each ministry introduce its Vision Endowment to its constituents, we have published a tremendous resource that teaches the basics of Biblical stewardship. Well-designed books, brochures, and posters explaining and promoting the Vision Endowment also assist in the communication process. Quarterly teaching lessons called Treasure Builders, now provided by subscription, can also help the pastoral team in the vital ministry of teaching Biblical stewardship and the importance of personal financial planning according to God's Word.

STAFF AND FACILITIES

None of our progress this year would have been possible without the outstanding staff God has assembled to serve at Eternal Vision. The team that God has brought together gives us the unique ability to serve the ministry and constituent needs of Eternal Vision. Our team has years of proven leadership and a broad array of legal and financial counseling skills.

Attorney Matt Davis, Dr. Mike Duffy, and Mr. Jim Rollick
Dr. Mike Duffy, our founder and President has been a leader in ministry for many years. With proven and recognized skill he has organized and led our administrative team through the development and implementation of our processes. Many pastors have publicly acknowledged that his ministry integrity has opened the doors of opportunity in their churches to address the very sensitive area of financial stewardship.

Attorney Matt Davis, our Vice President and corporate counsel, has extensive experience with the legal issues that impact Christian education. He has spearheaded the development of the unique endowment process that sets Eternal Vision apart from any other organization or ministry. Matt has brought skill-sets to the ministry that are advancing us much further than our initial expectations in the areas of technology and management.

Mr. Jim Rollick, our Director of Stewardship Services, brings a unique mix of theological studies and practical applications. In joining our team he has brought an important combination of theological depth and financial planning experience from his years with a Christian investment advisory firm. The practical application of financial wisdom, as with any discipline of the Christian experience, must be rooted in theology. Our goal is to see Eternal Vision produce theologically sound yet deeply practical materials that will be a great resource for our Fundamental churches and schools.

We rejoice in the outstanding facilities and initial staff that God has brought together to create this team. Please pray with us as we trust the Lord to grow our ministry and to direct our continued staffing as our opportunities of ministry increase.

MINISTRY SUPPORT

We are rejoicing in the provision that God has made to bring us this far. More than two hundred individuals and ministries receive our prayer letter. We are regularly reminded by folks who understand the importance of what we are attempting to do of their prayers for us. It is a blessing and encouragement to our whole team.

We are so grateful for those who have provided funding for our start-up. Without these generous friends we would not have been able to survive. The nature of what we are doing has necessitated this kind of support. Our approach is long-range and eventually the fruit of our labors will provide for the financial needs of our ministry. Until then, these strategic partners are playing a critical role.

UNIQUE ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Christian Education Vision Endowment Program: This program to address the long-identified funding needs in Christian education has now been proven as a viable solution to the problem. Christian educators have expressed that this is the first real solution they have ever seen! The important elements of a Vision Endowment include: 1.) a promise from a ministry to remain true to its doctrinal and philosophical positions, 2.) third-party administration and compliance of the endowment by Eternal Vision, and 3.) Biblical-professional counsel to donors on planned giving options, which taken together, create confidence in a donor to give. Our approach to the funding solution through stewardship education and support is truly unique.

Family Vision Endowments: Our philosophy of teaching Biblical stewardship and assisting God's people in their stewardship planning has led us to develop a personal endowment program for families. The Family Vision Endowment is a method of increasing a couple's ministry gifting. The Family Vision Endowment gives donors an opportunity to endow many different ministries that have been a blessing to them throughout their lifetimes, and provides donor confidence that the causes they support will remain true to their Biblical distinctives. Their support of the ministries builds Heavenly treasure as they honor the Lord in their final act of stewardship.

Curriculum Development Master Plan: We have formulated a basic philosophy for stewardship curriculum development and a master plan for publishing it in various forms. As this plan is implemented in 2008, we will offer discipleship material, devotional material, books for personal study, and educational curriculum for all levels of Christian education, elementary through seminary.

MINISTRY DISTINCTIVES

  • Combination of stewardship training and endowment building
  • Protecting the integrity of donors' gifts
  • Sustaining the fundraising effort for a ministry
  • No financial products to sell the congregation
  • Representing no other ministry as we serve a ministry
  • Local church emphasis
  • Independent, Fundamental Baptist in identity
  • Process model fits many ministries (i.e., missions, camps, colleges, etc)
  • Family Vision Endowment process
  • Third-party mediation & stewardship counseling for major gifting

WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?

We have certainly learned that the need for what we do is nearly universal in churches and schools. In fact, we have not found a ministry yet that would not benefit greatly from the services of Eternal Vision and we have thousands of prospective schools in our database. Recognizing our manpower and calendar limitations has led us to consider an approach that makes our ministry available to all Christian Schools. The impact, especially the long-term impact, of what we are doing will make a quality Christian education available to tens of thousands of additional students every year. We believe it will help these quality Christian schools to be recognized in their communities as being the cutting edge of quality education, period! What great opportunities this will create for local church outreach. We are launching this initiative in January 2008. While we continue offer personal services to the ministries who desire our presence this will allow us to have a much broader impact on Christian education.

WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR US

We greatly value your friendship to our ministry. You will be a great blessing to us by:

  • Praying - we covet the prayers of God's people. Just as King Asa recognized his limitations and cried out in prayer to God, so we recognize ours. We need the power of God on our people and our ministry. Please pray for us! And pray especially for the launching of our January initiative.
  • Promoting - perhaps you know of a Christian school(s) that could use the services of Eternal Vision. Tell them about us, or tell us about them.
  • Providing - we will continue to need a substantial amount of start-up money for our operations during these first few years. Please ask the Lord to direct you as to what part you could play in meeting the needs of this ministry.

WHAT CAN WE DO FOR YOU?

We count it a privilege to serve you personally. Tell us how we could help you with your stewardship needs. Share with us what is on your heart to do for the Lord. Perhaps we could be of some help to you in your personal stewardship planning. Let our staff of experts serve you in maximizing the accomplishment of God's will in your life.

By God's grace, and in His power, we are praying and serving with the hope that God will bring about a great revival in Christian education, and in our local churches, as His people develop a Biblical understanding of their stewardship roles and responsibilities, all to the glory of God!
